March 7, 2011 - Until recently, the University of Washington's (UW) Clinical Informatics and Patient-Centered Technologies (CIPCT) Online Master of Science program was housed only in the UW School of Nursing but several courses have been taught for many years by the faculty in the UW Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics (MEBI). In February 2011, the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine have formally partnered to offer CIPCT as a joint program.
What does this mean for current and incoming students?
Current students should notice little difference in their program in terms of course requirements and program administration. However, students now have access to the MEBI faculty for advisement on thesis and scholarly projects. In addition, out-of-state students are no longer required to pay tuition at a higher non-resident rate. Tuition is now the same for all students.
Incoming students will benefit from day one in terms of program and project advising. This partnership also allows us to expand our audience to create a more interdisciplinary cohort.
We are very excited about this transition! Keep an eye on the CIPCT Website for further information linking to both the School of Nursing and School of Medicine websites.
